RESTAURANT REVIEW: Leggero, Soho #tastethefreedom

On the hunt for a gluten free Italian restaurant in London? Look no further, because Leggero @leggerolondon is currently the only gluten free Italian food concept restaurant in the UK: it offers magnificently presented mouth-watering gluten free dishes, with veggie, vegan and dairy free options too.

Their restaurant is in Soho, whilst they have two street food haunts: Camden Market and Mercato Metropolitano, Elephant & Castle.

After stopping by their street food haunt in Camden Market (they’re also at Mercato Metropolitano!) guess who was lucky enough to try some of their dishes out in their cosy restaurant? We had the tomato pappardelle with bolognese ragù and the gorgonzola stuffed pink ravioli with pistachio pesto.

It’s hard to find the right adjectives to actually describe how tasty the food is. Yummy doesn’t quite cut it. To a gluten-eating mortal, this will not taste free of gluten, which is quite an impressive feat, considering some gluten free pasta still tastes akin to cardboard.

One aspect I love is that the handmade pasta isn’t any normal pasta, it is flavoured: chestnut, basil, and black ink are some of the flavours you can expect to try.

All that’s left to say is: do yourself a favour and pick a night, book a table and go meet the lovely staff at Leggero and taste their delicious food. GF beer available too. Make a night of it!

Thanks again to Leggero for the invite!

Student-friendly? Yes. Offers something different without being overpriced, bit pricier than chain Italian restaurants but who wants to go to these when homemade pasta is on the cards? Mains between £13-14.

Fodmap options? Onion and garlic free options. The restaurant strive to cater for people with all sorts of intolerances. Please contact them in advance to see what they can do for you.
